The Band Camp Experience . . .

Every year during the week before school begins, the members of the CCHS Marching Band participate in Band Camp. Their mornings are spent practicing formations out on the field from 7:00-11:00 AM.

It can be very hot in August here in the desert and the students sometimes have to tolerate temperatures up to 110°. Dedicated Band Booster parents provide water and fresh fruit daily for their much anticipated mid-morning break.

In the evenings from 4:00-7:00 PM, the students reunite to practice the music for their field show. They break up into smaller groups based on the instrument they play. Each group has an instructor. Jeff Howe, percussion instructor, put the drumline through its paces. Recent graduates of the band program, Brian Morales and Shawn Fischer, also provided assistance.

Take a look at last year's slideshows below for a glimpse at this exhausting, exhilerating, educational and definitely FUN experience.
